You’re Wearing Me Out!
It’s 10 p.m. on a Friday night… time to get stylin’ for my evening on the town. What to wear, what to wear?? Should I go classy uptown with my Ralph Lauren, Chanel, or Louis Vuitton or more sporty with my Quicksilver, Volcom or Diesel? I decide to go sporty and slap on my Diesel. On the way out the door I take my iPhone and put it on the table. Off I go!
Seriously, who EVER leaves their smartphone at home when they go anywhere? Especially not for a night on the town. After all, I need to tweet, text, post to Facebook, take some selfies, listen to Pandora, and make a few calls, all in my first five minutes at the club.
But wait! Now I can do all that without my smartphone!
Wearable Computing Is Still a Little Geeky
No smartphone? Indeed. With my new smartwatch on my wrist, I don’t need to drag my smartphone around and risk losing it or dropping it. After all, I can do all I need with my wearable computer and look good doing it!
Wearable computing is here, somewhat, with the Samsung Gear watch, but it is clunky and nerdy, like when those first giant cell phones came out. Only the “must have it first” crowd and true geeks are strolling around with their Gear Watch and Google Glass.
But what if it was functional AND cool?
In top secret locations around the globe, top tech companies AND designers are working together to produce wearable computers that will provide all the things you love about your smartphone while also looking stylish and cool. Imagine a slim screen that can wrap completely around your wrist!
Think about it, we already have the Nike Fuelband, the Fitbit Force and the Garmin Vivofit to track our activity levels, sleep patterns, blood pressure and sugar levels. It’s not a huge leap to think we can combine the two into one smartwatch to do it all.
There has been a buzz for a while now about when Apple will release their iWatch. We know it’s coming but when? TechRadar says reports tilt toward an October 2014 launch… and we think it will be huge!
All the technology is already available — sensors, gyroscopes, accelerometers, compasses, image stabilization and durable water resistant flexible screens. If you could leave your smartphone at home when you go to the grocery store, for a workout, or for a night out on the town and still keep up with all your smartphone habits, wouldn’t you?
Wearable technology is coming soon and should surpass even the highest sales for iPhones and Galaxies. They will be able to collect information constantly, without you having to enter anything. They will be with you every step of the way and allow you to buy your groceries or purchase that new shirt with the wave of an arm. Heck, you could even swipe your wrist to buy those new designer sunglasses, because you will really be that cool. And when you get home exhausted after a night on the town, you can sit back and chill watching Netflix with a flick of the wrist.
